6 November 2021 sees Mr. Josh Gu taking over as Project Director of All in CARAVANING (AIC) and in future he will be in charge of both AIC and ProWine. He succeeds Mrs. Yujia Du, who will leave the company after five successful years on 5 November 2021.
Commenting on the move Mr. Marius Berlemann, General Manager of Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., says: “As a satellite exhibition of Caravan Salon DÜSSELDORF, the world’s largest show for motorhomes and caravans, AIC will continue its mission in being the lighthouse for the Chinese recreational vehicle and camping industry. By appointing Mr. Josh Gu as the Project Director of AIC, the show and the team will benefit from Josh's wealth of experience.”
Chinese RV industry is accelerating its development in the post-pandemic era
As a holiday lifestyle, RVs are becoming increasingly popular in China, and the sales and ownership of RVs have been growing. Annual sales of RVs have grown by 30% -45% for five consecutive years. In 2015, the sales volume in China was only 8,760, but it soared to 69,000 units in 2020. RV ownership was less than 50,000 units in 2016. By the end of 2020, it had reached 210,000 units. RV leasing is also moving from a niche market to the mainstream, with 512 rental companies nationwide in 2020 offering more than 9,000 units for rent. The total number of people leasing RVs for travel in China reached 70,000 for the year, with a total value of about 170 million yuan.
AIC 2021 concluded with a record-breaking success in Beijing. The indoor and outdoor exhibition area totaled 39,000 square meters and welcomed more than 200 brands, attracting 25,448 visitors in total, up by 6% compared to the previous edition. More than 550 caravan models of different price ranges were on display. This fact underlines the importance of AIC for the Chinese RV industry.
New leadership of AIC with new dynamism
As a recognized project management expert, Mr. Josh Gu has acquired great experience in the exhibition sector for more than 16 years. From the start of his career with Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai, Mr. Gu has been in charge of developing ProWine Shanghai and ProWine Hong Kong, which have grown to become the leading shows for the wine and spirits industry in China. Around 5,200 exhibitors from 40 countries have presented themselves at ProWine Shanghai since its debut in 2013. ProWine Shanghai also counted around 110,000 trade visitors during this period.
Under Mr. Gu’s leadership, ProWine is not only committed to creating comprehensive professional wine and spirits trade fairs, but also dedicated to wine education. Before the exhibition, ProWine Shanghai has organized a number of city road shows, covering more than 40 cities across the country. “We witness many similarities in the way on how the projects have been and are managed”, speaking of his new position, Josh said. “With these successful experiences of ProWine, I will continue to reinforce AIC’s industry position and further develop the AIC SCHOOL, which offers B2C seminars and training programs for those who are interested in caravanning & camping and pursue a high-quality lifestyle.”
ProWine Shanghai 2021 will be held on 9 -11 November 2021 in Hall W4 and W5 of Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC).
AIC 2022 will be held at the Beijing Etrong International Exhibition & Convention Center next June.
